BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College swim teams competed in the 2019 Maine State Meet at Bowdoin College on Friday and Saturday. The men finished sixth with 15 points while the women posted a seventh place finish with 10 points in the annual event.
Both teams competed exclusively in relay events, as the women finished 10th in the 200-Free relay and 11th in the 200-Medley and 400-Free relays while the men placed 11th in the 200-Free and 200-Medley relay races.
Also, in a race unique to the Maine State event, the Monks competed in the mixed 400-Medley relay, as seniors Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) and Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine), freshman Evan Whaley (Merrimack, N.H.), and sophomore Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) posted a 4:31.04 time.
- Madison Mills (Atkinson, N.H.), Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.), Nostrom, and Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine) posted a 1:49.10 time in the 200-Free relay
- Beauregard, Nostrom, Roy, and Mills notched a 2:07.99) effort in the 200-Medley relay
- Mills, Coiley, Nostrom, and Beauregard registered a 4:20.01 time in the 400-Free relay
- Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.), Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.), Whaley, and Watson recorded a 1:45.80 time in the 200-Free relay
- Nichols, Whaley, Watson, and Blatus posted a 2:07.54 effort in the 200-Medley relay
The Monks are off until Saturday, January 11th when both teams swim at Gordon College at 12:00 PM.
