Men Place Fourth at Bates College

LEWISTON, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's track & field team placed fourth with 50 points in the Bates College Invitational on Saturday. The women finished sixth with 23 team points.

Freshman Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) highlighted the day for the Monks, as the rookie set new team records in the shot put (11.09m), triple jump (11.94m) and weight throw (10.07m) events and placed sixth, eighth and eighth, respectively. Sophomore Calvin Field (Windham, Maine) tied his team record with a 1.83m performance in the high jump, good for second overall, and also placed sixth in the long jump (5.62m).

Sophomore Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) broke the team's 3000-Meter record with a 9:23.88 effort and placed 10th in the event while freshman Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) finished fourth in the 5000-Meter (16:48.11) and junior Mark McCarraher (Franklin, Mass.) was fifth in the 400-Meter (57.00).

On the women's side, senior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) placed fourth in the 1-Mile (5:26.65) and 1000-Meter (3:21.41) events and freshman Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) was fifth in the 400-Meter (1:14.49).

Senior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) finished sixth in the 1-Mile (5:32.94) and seventh in the 3000-Meter (11:07.02) and junior Rebecca Braun (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished sixth in the 400-Meter (1:18.37) event.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday at Bowdoin College.
