Men Finish Fourth at Southern Maine

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Josephs' College men's indoor track & field team placed fourth with 32.5 points at University of Southern Maine on Saturday. The women finished ninth with four team points.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine) highlighted the event with his first career victory with a 1:29.41 time in the 600-Meter
  • Freshman Malcolm Gocha (Plymouth, N.H.) finished third in the 55-Meter (6.78) and sixth in the 200-Meter (24.38)
  • Senior Taidghe Hagan (Reading, Mass.) finished as the runner-up in the 1000-Meter (2:48.14)
  • Sophomore Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) was fourth in the 5000-Meter (17:44.79)
  • Junior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) placed eighth in the 600-Meter (1:35.53)
  • Freshman James Stevens (Marshfield, Mass.) posted an 8.59 time in the 55-Meter prelims and was 27th in the 200-Meter (30.68)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Freshman Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) finished seventh in the 1000-Meter (3:17.04)
  • Freshman Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) finished 10th in the high jump (1.38m) and posted a 7.96 time in the 55-Meter prelims and a 9.74 effort in the 55-Meter hurdles preliminary
  • Freshman Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) placed 13th in the 200-Meter (28.92) and recorded a 7.99 effort in the 55-Meter prelims
  • Barrett, Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine), Meghan Burke (Falmouth, Maine) and Smith raced in the 4x200 Meter relay and finished seventh with a program-record 2:00.05 time
  • Burke was 15th in the shot put (9.12m)
  • Senior Michelle Cunha (Enfield, Conn.) placed 11th in he weight throw (8.69m) and 18th in the shot put (8.82m)

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will compete in the State of Maine Championship at Southern Maine next Friday and Saturday.
