Monks Compete in NCAA Regionals, Welzel Claims All-New England Honors

MEDFORD, Mass. – Several members of the Saint Joseph's College men's indoor track & field team qualified for and competed in the 2017 NCAA DIII New England Regional Championship, which was hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

Certainly one of the highlights of the season has been freshman Keenan Welzel (Brunswick, Maine), who capped his freshman indoor campaign by earning NCAA All-New England honors with an eighth-place finish in the 400-Meter Dash (50.95).

Freshmen Kevin McWilliams (New Milford, Conn.), Andrew D'Ovidio (Walpole, Mass.) and Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine) and junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed 17th in the Distance Medley with an 11:36.26 effort, a season PR for the quartet.

For the Monks, the regional event concludes the 2017 indoor season. The outdoor campaign begins March 25th at Bridgewater State University.
