GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams kicked off the 2018-19 season with an appearance in the University of Southern Maine Open on Saturday. The event was of the non-scoring variety.
The Monks opened the campaign by breaking several team records, as freshman Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) posted a new top time in the 400-meter dash (1:06.04), sophomore Marissa Hoffman (Harwood, Vt.) bested the former long jump mark with a 4.82-meter distance, and freshman Dori LeMoine (Swan's Island, Maine) broke the shot put record with a 9.71-meter throw.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Freshman Michael Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) won the 1000-meter run with a 2:56.14 effort
- Senior Avery Liotta-Henderson (Waterbury, Conn.) placed third in the 1000-meter run (3:18.30)
- Senior Marshall Berninghausen (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) was third in the weight throw (12.05m)
- Sophomore Connor Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) finished third in the 800-meter run (2:13.97)
- Sophomore Lance Santeusanio (Berwick, Maine) was fourth in the high jump (1.85m)
- Sophomore Michael Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) placed fifth in the 600-meter run (1:32.34)
- Freshman Jacob Huberdeau (Plaistow, N.H.) finished fifth in the 3000-meter run (9:26.64)
- Freshman Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was sixth in the 600-meter run (1:50.75)
- Sophomore Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine) placed sixth in the 800-meter run (2:16.98)
- Junior Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine) was eighth in the 3000-meter run (10:58.89)
- Junior Alex Fitzgerald (Lebanon, N.H.) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash (24.77) and 10th in the long jump (5.78m)
- Senior Alex Gutierrez (York, Maine) placed seventh in the weight throw (9.73m) and ninth in the shot put (10.07m)
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- VanDeMoere was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash (1:06.04)
- Senior Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) placed third in the 1000-meter run (3:26.99)
- Junior Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine) placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.48)
- Sophomore Holly Moores (Rollinsford, N.H.) was fourth in the 3000-meter run (12:32.69)
- Senior Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (28.53), fifth in the 55-meter dash (7.97)
- Hoffman placed fifth in the long jump (4.82m), seventh in the 200-meter dash (29.29) and 10th in the 55-meter dash (8.14)
- Freshman Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) finished sixth in the 3000-meter run (13:48.68)
- LeMoine finished sixth in the shot put (9.71m)
- Sophomore Meghan Glisson (Merrimack, N.H.) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:15.46)
- Freshman Maelle Tati-Pamboy (Portland, Maine) was seventh in the 55-meter dash (8.02) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (29.48)
- Senior Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) was eighth in the 400-meter dash (1:17.23) and 55-meter hurdles (10.12)
- Freshman Kaylee Todisco (Wilmington, Mass.) finished eighth in the 55-meter dash (8.09)
- Freshman Katelyn McCarthy (Londonderry, N.H.) placed ninth in the 400-meter dash (1:19.31)
- Bisset, Smith, Todisco, and Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) finished third in the 4x200 meter relay (1:57.18)
