BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams kicked off the 2019-20 season with an appearance in the Emmanuel College Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. The event was of the non-scoring variety.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Freshman Simon Vinci (Peabody, Mass.) shattered the Monks' Shot Put record by over two meters with a 13.89m effort and placed third in the event; he also finished ninth in the Weight Throw (12.62m)
- Sophomore Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) broke the SJC 5000-Meter record by over 10 seconds and placed 14th with a 16:03.66 time – the sophomore standout also won his heat by over 10 seconds
- Junior Michael Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) broke the Monks' program record – one that stood for over five years - with an eighth-place finish in the 500-Meter run (1:10.95)
- Junior Lance Santeusanio III (North Berwick, Maine) finished sixth in the High Jump (1.85m), 16th in the Long Jump (5.97m), and 46th in the 200-Meter dash (25.28)
- Junior Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine) was 19th in the 800-Meter run (2:11.79)
- Sophomore Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) placed 26th in the 400-Meter dash (1:00.96)
- Junior Connor Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was 44th in the 1-Mile run (5:39.18)
- Sophomore Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) finished 20th in the 3000-Meter run (9:37.20)
- Mason, Ricky Reyes (Worcester, Mass.), Santeusanio, and Whitlock finished 11th in the 4x400-Meter relay (3:45.08)
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Freshman Emily Colson (Casco, Maine) tied the Monks' Triple Jump program record with a 9.06m effort and finished 19th overall
- Sophomore Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) placed 11th in the 800-Meter run (2:39.78) and 12th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:05.95)
- Junior Meghan Glisson (Merrimack, N.H.) was 11th in the 500-Meter run (1:35.56)
- Freshman Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed 11th in the 3000-Meter run (11:41.26)
- Senior Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) was 14th in the 5000-Meter run (20:44.81)
- Glisson, Marissa Hoffman (Waterbury, Vt.), Kennedy, and VanDeMoere placed ninth in the 4x400-Meter relay (4:45.85)
- Senior Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine) finished 24th in the Long Jump (4.07m)
- Freshman Piper Wetherby (Berwick, Maine) was 25th in the Shot Put (8.53m) and 27th in the Weight Throw (6.59m)
- Sophomore Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) finished 26th in the 1-Mile run (6:26.28)
- Sophomore Kaylee Todisco (Wilmington, Mass.) finished 30th in the 200-Meter dash (28.27)
