STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and three Saint Joseph's College outdoor track & field athletes have been honored.
For their efforts in the Jim Sheehan Memorial at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, grad student Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) has earned GNAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors, senior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) has claimed Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors, and freshman Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) has been chosen as the Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Hendricks placed seventh overall in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a 10:59 finish and tenth in the 5000-meter run clocking in at 16:39.21 at the Jim Sheehan Memorial.
Abbott placed second in the High Jump (1.90m), eighth in the Triple Jump (11.81m), and 15th in the Long Jump (5.61m) at Fitchburg State University.
Waryas placed fourth in the 100-Meter Hurdles (16.35) and 22nd in the 100-Meter Dash (14.43) on Saturday.
Saint Joseph's will host the Monks Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
