Men Race to Third Place Finish at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's cross country team opened the 2016 campaign by competing in a 5K race, hosted by University of New England at Rotary Park on Saturday.

THE LEAD

Saint Joseph's featured a pair of runners in the top four overall and finished third with 47 team points, behind University of Maine-Farmington (33) and UNE (40). Senior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) finished as the runner-up with a 17:14 effort, just one second off the pace of individual winner Robbie Hollis of UMF, while junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed fourth with a 17:39 time.

Today's event counts as the cross country debut for Head Coach Scott Hutchinson, who was hired as the leader of the Monks' cross country and track & field programs last spring.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday with an appearance in the Husson Invitational. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:00 AM.
