STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College hosted the Runnin' Monks Invitational on the SJC Cross Country Course on Saturday. The Saint Joseph's women placed third with 65 points while the SJC men also finished third with 65 points in the annual event.

MEN:

With four runners in the top 10, Babson College claimed the men's crown with 38 points, four ahead of runner-up UMaine-Farmington. Thomas College (91 points) and Johnson State College (136) rounded out the full teams while Wheelock College, Central Maine Community College, and UMaine-Augusta also competed in the 8K race but did not feature full squads.

Thomas College's Jarrod Ottman claimed the men's individual crown with a 28:44 performance, 28 seconds ahead of runner-up Jeremiah Sands of UMaine-Farmington.

RUNNIN'MONKS:

• Senior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) paced the hosts with a 30:28 time and finished sixth overall
• Freshman Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine) placed 11th (31:49)
• Sophomore Kevin McWilliams (New Milford, Conn.) was 13th (32:03)
• Sophomore Ben Plante (Biddeford, Maine) finished 19th (33:28)
• Freshman Connor Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was 21st (34:14)

ALUMNI:

A large contingent of SJC alumni also competed in the race: Joe DiSalvo '15 (10th, 31:29), Andrew Caron '16 (30th, 36:51), Nick Shuckrow '17 (32nd, 37:37), Faisal Abdillahi '14 (35th, 39:01), Taidghe Hagan '16 (39th, 42:37), and Richard Brooks '88 (44th, 47:21).

WOMEN:

Featuring three of the top four individual runners, UMaine-Farmington edged Babson College for the top spot with 32 points in the women's 5K event. The Beavers, with four runners in the top eight, were just three points off the pace, while Thomas College finished fourth with 120 team points. Johnson State College, Wheelock College, UMaine-Augusta, and Central Maine Community College also featured individuals in the annual race.

UMF's Katie LeBlanc claimed top individual honors with a 20:38 effort, nearly a full minute ahead of teammate Laura Pulito, who posted a 21:29 time.

RUNNIN' MONKS:

• Sophomore Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) placed third with a 21:59 performance
• Freshman Lindsay Barrow (Granby, Conn.) was 20th (24:40)
• Freshman Meghan Glisson (Merrimack, N.H.) finished 22nd (24:57)
• Freshman Elizabeth Cummons (Lincolnville, Maine) was 23rd (25:14)
• Freshman Britney Theroux (West Warwick, R.I.) placed 24th (25:27)
• Sophomore Amanda Tavoletti (Reading, Mass.) finished 25th (25:31)
• Sophomore Analyse Harris (Windham, Maine) was 29th (26:12)
• Sophomore McKenzie Pepin (Windham, Maine) raced to a 30th place finish (26:37)
• Freshman Elisha Pratt (Poland, Maine) placed 33rd (27:25)
• Freshman Bridget Porter (Dracut, Mass.) was 35th (27:38)

ALUMNI:

2017 grads Krissy Schelling and Marisa Lundy also ran in the annual event, finishing 42nd (31:10) and 43rd (31:10), respectively.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the 2017 Maine State Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College, next Saturday.
