Men and Women Post 11th & 10th at Suffolk Invitational

BOSTON, Massachusetts. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's cross country teams posted 11th and 10th place finishes at The Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park today. The men posted 291 points in the 8K race while the women came in with 264 points in the 5K event.
 
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
Smith won the event with 40 points, just ahead of Stevens Institute (89) and Colby-Sawyer (112) with Suffolk senior, Emily Manfra, defending her home course with the individual win after touring the course in 18:39 minutes.
FOR THE MONKS:
  • Freshman Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the top SJC runner to cross the finish line and was 23rd with a 20:42 effort
  • Junior  Lauren Fisher (Hampton Falls, N.H.) finished 45th after touring the 5K course in 21:27
  • Senior Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) flew in for a 56th place finish with a race time of 21:46.7
  • Sophomore Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) placed 64th with a 22:05 performance
  • Junior Holly Moores  (Rollinsford, N.H.) rounded out the top five SJC runners with a 22:41 time and placed 76th overall 
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
Southern Maine claimed the invitational title with 47 points, twenty-six points ahead of runner-up Stevens Institute (73), while Suffolk's sophomore Matyas Csiki-Fejer won the event with a 26:03.7 time, six seconds ahead of runner-up Yahoo Nure of Southern Maine.
FOR THE MONKS:
  • Sophomore Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) took the lead for Saint Joseph's with a time of 26:46 in his top 10 finish (6th)
  • Sophomore Jacob Huberdeau (Plaistow, N.H.) followed in for 52nd at 28:40.5
  • Freshman Ricardo Reyes (Worcester, Mass.) was 76th with a 29:32.2 effort, breaking the thirty minute wall 
  • Junior Michael Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) cracked thirty minutes coming in for 77th at 29:32.8
  • Junior Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine) was the fifth SJC runner to cross the line and placed 81st overall with a 29:45.3 performance
All top five runners finished under thirty minutes which was hasn't been seen since the 2015 Men's team.

Saint Joseph's will rest the legs this coming week and will be back for The GNAC Championship at their very own course on Nov. 2nd!
