BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College Men's and Women's cross country teams both finished the day with two 4th place finishes at The Bowdoin Invitational this morning. The men posted 101 points in the 8K race while the women completed with 94 points in their first 6k of the year.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
Bowdoin finished first with 15 points with seven runners in the top ten. Endicott came in at second with 57 points followed by Emmanuel (82) and the Runnin' Monks (94). Cameron Mackenzie of Bowdoin took charge with a 23:22 first place finish.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Junior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished first for the Monks placing 21st overall with a time of 26:53.
- Senior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) wasn't too far behind with a finishing time of 27:10 for 23rd.
- Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) placed 25th with a 27:34 effort.
- Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) ran strong for a 28:28 performance placing 31st
- Senior Captain Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) paced for 29:10 with a 34th finish
- Junior Caity Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) came in right behind VanDeMoere with 29:11 finish for 35th
- Freshman Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had a very strong finish edging for 40th with a 6k personal best of 32:53
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
Bowdoin ran away with the win today scoring 17 points with their very own John Hood placing first with a 26:32 finish. Endicott was todays runner up with 57 points followed by NVU-Lyndon (91), Saint Joseph's (101), and fellow GNAC school Emmanuel (109).
FOR THE MONKS:
- Senior Captain Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) led Saint Joseph's with with a Top 10 finish sailing in at 28:14
- Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) ran a 31:28 placing 31st overall
- Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) finished next for the monks placing 33rd for a 31:52 finish.
- Freshman Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine.) finished 37th in his second 8K of his colligate career with a 33:31 mark.
- Senior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) stretched it out for his debut cross country race from his usual sprints (runner up Indoor GNAC 200m sprinter) placing 38th in a 33:41 effort
- Senior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was the sixth SJC runner to cross the line and placed 45th overall with a 37:55 mark.
