Softball Cracks NCAA Regional Rankings

STANDISH, ME – The NCAA DIII Softball Regional Rankings have been released and Saint Joseph's College (33-4, 20-2 GNAC) is ranked fifth in the Northeast.

Led by 17th-year Head Coach Jamie Smyth '92, the Monks claimed their fourth-consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship with a 4-1 win over Simmons College on Sunday, April 27th. With the title game triumph, Saint Joseph's claimed an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament, which begins this Friday.

The 2014 NCAA Tournament selection show was held on Monday morning the Monks learned they would face off against Western Connecticut State University, which received an at-large berth into the national tourney after falling short in the Little East Conference playoffs, in the opening round. The Monks and Colonials play at 1:00 PM at Wellesley College – the host of a four-team pod that also includes Bridgewater State University – on Friday.
