Moore Named First Team ECAC All-New England

STANDISH, ME - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2014 Division III New England Softball All-Star Teams have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior designated player Lindsay Moore (Barrington, N.H.) has collected First Team accolades for the second time in her career.

Moore, a three-year starting shortstop relegated to designated player duty after suffering an injury prior to the season, hit .373 (47-126) with 10 doubles, two home runs, 28 RBI and a .429 OBP while starting in 39 of the Monks' 40 contests as a senior. She led the team in at bats (126) and doubles, was second in hits, home runs and RBI, and finished the year ranked third on the squad in OBP, total bases (65) and slugging percentage (.516).

A player who certainly will go down as one of the elite hitters in program history, Moore became the third Saint Joseph's player to reach the 200-hit milestone earlier this spring and is listed among the top five in essentially every career offensive category, including RBI (142, 2nd), extra base hits (74, 2nd), doubles (52, tied for 2nd), runs (146, 3rd), hits (216, 3rd), home runs (15, 3rd) and slugging (.611, 4th).

Moore, a four-time First Team All-Conference selection, earned her first ECAC Regional honor with a First Team nod after hitting .397 (54-136) with 35 runs, eight doubles, five home runs and 34 RBI as a freshman. Voting for the 2014 awards was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division III New England Softball membership.

Moore is one of four Monks to have claimed ECAC First Team All-New England accolades. Former teammates Emily Leverone '12, Theresa Hendrix '14 and Danyelle Shufelt '13 also earned the honor in 2011, 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Also a three-year starter for the Saint Joseph's basketball program, Moore tallied 924 points and 574 rebounds while shooting 51% (398-781) from the floor in 99 career contests and was selected as the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Year.

In all, Moore played in 272 games as a two-sport athlete at Saint Joseph's and helped her teams post a collective 205-72 (.740) overall record, including a 122-22 (.847) conference mark, with five GNAC Championships and five NCAA Tournament appearances during her collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (34-6, 20-2 GNAC) claimed the program's fourth-consecutive GNAC Championship with a 4-1 win over Simmons College on Sunday, April 27th. With the triumph, the Monks earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament and opened Regional play with a 10-0 victory over Western Connecticut State University on May 9th, but bowed out of the regional with consecutive losses the following day, falling to eventual pod champion Bridgewater State University – 5-2 in nine innings – and Wellesley College, 6-0.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is the nation's largest and only multidivisional athletic conference, with over 300 Division I, II and III colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Colorado. Established in 1938 with 58 charter members, the ECAC has since emerged as the nationwide leader in service.
