STANDISH, Maine – The 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball postseason awards have been announced and five Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.
Seniors Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) and Kim Jordan (Bangor, Maine) have earned First Team honors, junior Erica Boulanger (Somersworth, N.H.) is listed on the Second Team, and sophomores Jennifer Murphy (Andover, Mass.) and Carla Tripp (Lovell, Maine) have collected Third Team mention.
Hendrix earns All-GNAC honors for the fourth-consecutive season and is listed on the First Team for the third time after hitting .417 (50-120) with 40 runs, 13 doubles, six triples, six home runs and 11 stolen bases while starting all 40 of the Monks' games this spring. She was also one of the team's top pitchers and led the SJC staff in ERA (1.92), wins (7), appearances (15), strikeouts (39) and opponents' batting average (.211). Hendrix led the GNAC in runs, total bases (93), walks (24) and slugging percentage (.775), ranked second in doubles and triples, and third in home runs and RBI.
Hendrix capped her collegiate career with a .391 (195-499) batting average while totaling 135 runs, 51 doubles, 21 triples, 16 homers, 139 RBI and 21 stolen bases in as many attempts over 168 games. She is the program's all-time triples leader and ranks second in team history in home runs, slugging (.673), total bases (336) and extra-base hits (88), third in doubles, RBI and OPS (1.131), and fourth in hits.
Jordan claims First Team honors for the first time, and All-GNAC mention for the third-consecutive season, after hitting .357 (50-140) with 37 runs, eight doubles, eight triples, four homers, 21 RBI and six stolen bases during her senior campaign. The senior third baseman led the conference in at bats (140), plate appearances (153) and triples and capped the season ranked third in runs and total bases (86).
For her career, Jordan hit .303 (150-495) with 123 runs, 30 doubles, 15 triples, nine home runs, 61 RBI and 29 stolen bases. She leaves the program ranked second in team history in triples and is listed among the Monks' all-time leaders in games, at bats, runs, homers and stolen bases.
Boulanger collects her first All-Conference honor after going 5-2 with a 2.24 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 56.1 innings as a junior pitcher. She tossed three complete games and allowed just 13 walks and a .245 opponents' batting average over 13 appearances and 10 starts this spring.
A first-time All-Conference honoree, Murphy hit .411 (39-95) with 14 runs, four doubles, a homer and 17 RBI in 35 starts as a sophomore catcher. She posted career-highs across the board and ranked second in the GNAC in walks (22) and third in OBP (.529) this spring.
Tripp claims All-GNAC acclaim for the first time after hitting .395 (34-86) with 26 runs, five doubles, 11 RBI and four stolen bases as a sophomore outfielder/catcher. She led the conference in OBP (.540) and hit by pitch (9) and was fourth in the league in walks (18) this season.
Saint Joseph's College, led by Co-Head Coaches Jamie Smyth '92 and Dick Bailey, posted a 27-13 overall record with a 16-6 mark in GNAC play en route to earning the #3 seed in the conference tournament, which was played in East Boston, Massachusetts last weekend. The Monks opened tourney play with a loss to Emmanuel College on Friday, but remained in contention for the program's fifth-consecutive conference title with losers' bracket wins over top-seeded Suffolk University and Emmanuel before falling to Johnson & Wales University, 4-2, on Sunday.
