Tripp & Harrison Garner All-GNAC Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball postseason honors have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Junior outfielder Carla Tripp (Lovell, Maine) and junior third baseman Mariah Harrison (Buxton, Maine) have earned Third Team All-GNAC accolades.

Tripp claims Third Team mention for the second-consecutive season after hitting .397 (27-68) with 19 runs, three doubles, three RBI and five stolen bases in 23 games. Despite missing nearly half the season with various injuries, Tripp led the team in hitting and OBP (.481), ranked second in steals, and third in runs and walks (9). The Monks posted a 16-7 record with the junior center fielder in the lineup.

In three collegiate seasons, Tripp has hit .387 (94-243) with 73 runs, 10 doubles, 19 RBI, and 18 stolen bases with a .511 OBP. She is the Monks' career leader in HBP (24) and ranks second in team history in OBP.

Harrison collects her first All-Conference accolade after hitting .328 (41-125) with 23 runs, 14 doubles, two home runs, two steals, and 22 RBI while starting all 40 of the Monks' games this spring. She led the team in doubles, home runs, and slugging percentage (.488) and ranked second on the squad in runs and RBI as a junior.

Through three seasons, Harrison has hit .308 (72-234) with 42 runs, 22 doubles, four homers, three steals, and 48 RBI over 91 career games.

Led by 19th-year Head Coach Jamie Smyth '92, Saint Joseph's College posted a 22-18 overall record with a 13-9 mark in GNAC play en route to claiming the #6 seed in the conference tournament. Unfortunately, the Monks suffered a season-ending 1-0 loss at the hands of #7 Albertus Magnus College in the opening round, which is single-elimination, at Richard W. Bailey Field on Tuesday, May 3rd.
