MAMMOTH, Calif. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's alpine ski teams completed the 2023 season by competing in the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Slalom National Championships at Mammoth Mountain on Thursday.
The SJC women finished 15th with a 2:50.85 composite time while the St. Joe's men placed 22nd with 168.37 place points.
Rocky Mountain College claimed the 2023 USCSA Women's Slalom National Championship with a 2:20.78 team performance while Northern Michigan University (2:23.88), Hobart & William Smith (2:29.77), Colgate University (2:30.41), and Castleton University (2:31.51) made up the list of top five women's programs.
Reagan Olli of Northern Michigan was the top individual with a 45.07 performance while Rocky Mountain's Hilde Sato finished second (45.44) and Ashley Winberg of the College of St. Scholastica placed third (45.62).
THE RUNDOWN - WOMEN:
- Junior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) placed 49th with a 54.31 time
- Junior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) finished 63rd (56.01)
- Junior Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) was 88th (1:00.53)
- Freshman Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) placed 101st (1:04.97)
- Sophomore Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) was 112th (1:11.40)
Castleton University claimed the 2023 USCSA Men's Slalom National Championship with 134.01 points, just ahead of Rocky Mountain College, which tallied 135.18 points. Northern Michigan University (137.60), St. Olaf College (139.84), and the United States Air Force Academy (140.05) rounded out the top five competing teams.
Alexander Sehlberg of Rocky Mountain College was the top individual finisher with a 42.53 effort while Castleton's Lorenzo Mencaccini placed second (42.96) and Michael Puchkov of the Air Force Academy finished third (43.63).
THE RUNDOWN - MEN:
- Junior Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) placed 67th with a 52.95 time
- Sophomore Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) finished 82nd (55.90)
- Freshman Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) was 98th (59.92)
- Freshman Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) placed 105th (1:05.80)
- Freshman Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) finished 108th (1:11.00)
