FRANCONIA, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College competed in a USCSA Reynolds Division giant slalom race at Mittersill Alpine Resort on Sunday. Both teams placed second in the event, as the SJC men posted 11 place points and a 4:17.41 composite time and the Monks' women tallied 13 points and a 4:40.56 total time.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
UMaine-Farmington took home the women's title with eight place points and a 4:35.44 time while Bowdoin placed third (48 pts, 5:10.58), New England College was fourth (58 pts, 5:23.92), UMaine-Orono finished fifth (62 pts, 5:43.80), and Bates and Colby tied for sixth (96 pts, 7:07.61).
At the end of the day, UMF freshman Elanore Robb (1:28.74), SJC senior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) (1:31.96), and UMF junior Grace Mahmood (1:33.20) stood on the podium in first, second, and third place, respectively.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Pingree rebounded from a DNF on Saturday to finish second with a 1:31.96 (44.84, 47.12) effort
- Junior Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) narrowly finished outside the podium with a 1:33.79 (46.66, 47.13) time and fifth-place finish
- Senior Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) placed seventh with a 1:34.81 (46.70, 48.11) time
- Freshman Hannah Golden (Concord, N.H.) was eighth (1:36.33, 47.23 / 49.10)
- Freshman Lily Anctil (Greene, Maine) finished ninth (1:37.17, 48.03 / 49.14)
- Sophomore Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) placed 10th (1:37.85, 48.24 / 49.61)
- Junior Lillian Souweine (Bangor, Maine) was 11th (1:39.26, 48.86 / 50.40)
- Senior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) placed 12th (1:39.34, 49.45 / 49.89)
- Freshman Meghan Cyr (Hampden, Maine) finished 14th (1:39.34, 49.45 / 49.89)
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
UMaine-Farmington placed two of the top three finishers – including race winner Lake Lindelof (1:23.77) – to secure the team title with 10 points and a 4:15.59 aggregate time. Bowdoin placed third (44 pts, 4:33.13), UMaine-Orono was fourth (57 pts, 5:10.71), New England College ranked fifth (79 pts, 6:02.49), and Colby finished sixth (87 pts, 6:22.43)
SJC senior Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) led the Monks with a second-place finish and 1:24.21 time and UMF's Sam Roy completed the podium with a 1:24.71 time and third-place performance.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Sophomore Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) finished fourth with a 1:26.27 (42.53, 43.74) time
- Sophomore Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) placed fifth with a 1:26.93 (42.59, 44.34) performance
- Senior Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) was eighth (1:27.64, 43.15 / 44.49)
- Sophomore Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) finished ninth (1:27.91, 44.02 / 43.89)
- Junior Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) was 10th (1:28.09, 43.29 / 44.80)
- Sophomore Jacob Gilmore (Naples, Maine) placed 26th (1:55.61, 59.51 / 56.10)
- Freshman Sam Plummer (Raymond, Maine) posted a 55.72 time on the first run but DNF'ed the second
- Freshman Charlie Pye (Rangeley, Maine) was 22nd (45.28) on the first run but did not finish the second stint
