Cahill and Moore Claim Weekly Honors

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been announced and two Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Freshman center Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) has earned Rookie of the Week accolades from both organizations for the seventh time this season and junior forward Lindsay Moore (Barrington, N.H.) has been listed on the MWBCA Weekly Honor Roll for her play in three contests last week.

Cahill averaged 12.3 PPG and 9.7 RPG while shooting 51.5% (17-33) from the field in a 3-0 conference week for the Monks. She netted seven and pulled down 10 caroms in a victory over Lasell on Tuesday, added 14 points and seven rebounds in a win at Albertus Magnus on Thursday, and capped the regular-season with her GNAC-leading 10th double-double with 16 points and 12 boards in a convincing triumph over Emerson College on Saturday. Cahill shares the MWBCA honor with Maine Maritime Academy freshman Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine).

Moore helped propel the Monks to three wins with averages of 18.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 1.7 SPG last week. The junior forward shot an astounding 63.2% (24-38) from the floor and netted 17 versus Lasell on Tuesday, made 10 of 15 FG attempts and scored 24 against Albertus Magnus on Thursday and added 14 points and nine caroms in a win over Emerson on Saturday.

Currently, Cahill leads the Monks in scoring (13.3 PPG), rebounding (8.0 RPG), blocked shots (52), field goals made (134) and field goals attempted (272) and ranks second on the squad in field goal percentage (49.3%) and free throws made (64) through 25 games. She leads the GNAC in blocks and double-doubles (10) this season.

Moore leads the GNAC in field goal percentage (51.9%, 122-235), ranks second on the team in scoring (11.7 PPG) and rebounding (6.2 RPG), and is currently third on the squad in steals (47).

Saint Joseph's (15-10, 9-3 GNAC) has secured the #3 seed in the GNAC Tournament and will host #6 Johnson & Wales University (12-13, 7-5 GNAC) in a tourney quarterfinal this evening at 7:00 PM.
