Women's Basketball Captains Announced

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College Women's Basketball Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83 has announced his team captains for the upcoming season. Senior guard Sarah Assante (Standish, Maine) and junior center Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) will assume leadership positions within the program as the Monks look to defend the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship this winter.

Assante, the Monks' lone senior, averaged 4.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals while playing in all 29 contests for Saint Joseph's last season. A two-time GNAC All-Academic honoree, Assante also served as a captain last winter.

Cahill, a two-time All-GNAC honoree, led the Monks in scoring (15.3 PPG), rebounding (8.0 RPG) and blocked shots (59) during her second season after collecting GNAC and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman.

Saint Joseph's kicks off the 2014-15 campaign with a contest versus MIT in the Curry College Tip-Off Tournament at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 15th.
