McNamara Named MWBCA Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The first weekly report for the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) has been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has collected Rookie of the Week honors.

McNamara averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 opening week for the Monks. The freshman guard kicked off her collegiate career with nine points, four assists, three boards and three steals in a 53-47 victory over Wellesley College on Friday and netted eight points with four caroms in a loss to SUNY-New Paltz on Saturday. 

McNamara started for the Monks in both games, which were played as part of the Skidmore Invitational Tournament on the campus of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Thursday with a 5:30 PM tip-off versus longtime rival Husson University.
