STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (8-1, 2-0 GNAC) shot 51.9% (14-27) from beyond the arc and set a new program record for three-pointers made in an 80-63 victory over Husson University (3-5, 3-1 NAC) at the Harold Alfond Center on Sunday afternoon.

FIRST GLANCE:

Junior guard Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) netted a career-high 30 points off a 7-10 three-point shooting performance and the Monks registered a game-changing 26-7 run in the second half to hold off the Eagles, who scored the game's final 18 points during the closing five minutes of play.

THE REST OF THE STORY:

Leading 44-28 heading into the third quarter, Saint Joseph's morphed a 13-point (47-34) advantage into a 73-39 cushion on the heels of the aforementioned scoring run. Marks connected on her seventh trifecta of the afternoon to cap the 26-7 surge with 7:57 remaining in the fourth frame.

Sophomore guard Julia Quinn (Fryeburg, Maine) made a layup to lift the Monks to a game-high 35-point (80-45) lead just over two minutes later. As it played out, the bucket would be the hosts' last of the afternoon, as the Eagles forced six SJC turnovers down the stretch en route to trimming their deficit down to 17 points before the final buzzer rang.

BEYOND THE BOX:

In large part due to the long range prowess by Marks, the Monks set a new team single-game three-point field goals made record with 14 in today's battle between the pair of 2017 NCAA Tournament participants. The former record – 12 – was achieved on three occasions (USJ, 1/30/16; Anna Maria, 1/16/17; Lasell, 1/26/17)…St. Joe's has now won seven-consecutive games and is undefeated at home in the last 26 games at the Alfond Center.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• In addition to netting a personal-best 30 points, Marks also set career-highs in field goals made (9), field goal attempts (14), and three-pointers made (7)
• Junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) scored 17 points with eight assists
• Junior forward Emily Benway (Rochester, N.H.) fell one rebound shy of posting a double-double with 10 points and nine caroms
• Junior guard Julia Champagne (Brunswick, Maine) tallied 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists

LEADERS – HUSSON:

• Junior guard Kenzie Worcester (Washburn, Maine) scored 12 points with three boards and three assists
• Sophomore center Sami Ireland (Howland, Maine) came off the bench to contribute 12 points and seven rebounds
• Sophomore guard Barrett Campbell (Saco, Maine) chipped in with 10 points in 21 minutes off the bench
• Senior Jordan Butler (Hampden, Maine) – who played at SJC during the 2013 fall semester - registered eight points, six rebounds, and three assists

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 40-32 in the history of the series with Husson University and avenges a 77-50 loss at the hands of the Eagles last winter.
