STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (15-1, 8-0 GNAC) cruised past Anna Maria College (1-14, 0-6 GNAC), 81-40, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball contest at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Monks extend their win streak to 14 games, the third-longest victory string in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Leading 17-15 with 3:14 remaining in the first quarter, Saint Joseph's rattled off 19 unanswered points over the following nine minutes of play. The one-sided scoring effort was part of a 34-6 run spanning 15 minutes, as junior forward Emily Benway (Rochester, N.H.) knocked in a layup to lift the hosts to a 51-21 lead with 8:01 remaining in the third frame.

The Monks held the AMCATS to 10 total points in the second (6) and fourth (4) quarters combined.

STATS OF THE GAME:

Saint Joseph's shot 48.1% (26-54) from the floor and 47.8% (11-23) from three-point range compared to the AMCATS' percentages of 31.9% (15-47) and 20% (3-15) from the field and downtown, respectively.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• Junior guard Julia Champagne (Brunswick, Maine) led all players with 18 points and was perfect from the field (7-7), three-point distance (3-3) and the FT line (1-1)
• Benway notched her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive end
• Junior guard Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) scored 12 points with four assists and four rebounds
• Junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) added 11 points, four boards, seven assists, and a pair of steals

LEADERS – ANNA MARIA:

• Graduate guard Johanna Burke (Oxford, Mass.) scored nine points with four rebounds and four assists
• Sophomore forward Hailey Moore (Worcester, Mass.) netted eight points with four boards
• Freshman guard Franchesca Hammond (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with six assists, four caroms, three steals, and two points

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 9-0 in the history of the series with Anna Maria College. The Monks' winning margin (41) in today's contest is the largest posted by St. Joe's in nine meetings with the AMCATS.
