STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been selected as the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Player of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
McNamara averaged 18 points, 10.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The senior guard posted a pair of double-doubles last week, with 24 points and 13 assists in a victory over Albertus Magnus and 13 points and 11 assists in a win over Regis. She closed the week with 17 points and seven assists in just 20 minutes in a lopsided triumph over University of Saint Joseph on Saturday.
McNamara, who also garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor roll mention, is currently averaging 21.8 points, 6.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5% (115-242) from the field, 40.2% (49-122) from three-point distance, and 85.4% (70-82) from the free-throw line. She leads the GNAC in points (349), three-pointers made (49) and three-point percentage and ranks second in field goals made (115), assists (109) and assist/turnover ratio (2.4), and third in scoring average and FT%.
The MWBCA Player of the Week award is the 11th of McNamara's collegiate career.
Saint Joseph's will play at Anna Maria College at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
