STANDISH, Maine – Weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been listed on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the third time this season.
McNamara averaged 23.5 points, 8.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game with a 4.0 assist/turnover ratio in a pair of conference victories last week. With 22 points in a 75-52 win over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday, McNamara became the Monks' all-time leading scorer with 1,780 points - surpassing a record that held for nearly three decades. She also added seven assists and six rebounds in the triumph. On Saturday, McNamara netted 25 points with nine assists in a 75-62 win at Anna Maria.
McNamara, who also garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA), and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) honor roll mention for her performance last week, is one of just two players in the nation to earn three D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors so far this season. Thomas More University senior guard Madison Temple is the only other player to receive three such accolades.
Through 17 games this season, McNamara is averaging 22.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 46.7% (121-259) from the floor, 39.4% (54-137) from three-point range, and 86.7% (78-90) from the free throw line. She currently leads the GNAC in three-pointers made (54) and points per 40 minutes (28.3) and ranks second in three-point percentage, free-throw percentage, assists (118), assist/turnover ratio (2.5), scoring average, and points (374) and fourth in field goals made (121) and free throws made (78).
As of January 21st, McNamara is ranked in the top 25 in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball in nine different statistical categories, including assists per game (4th), assists (6th), points (7th), points per game (7th), three-pointers made (11th), three-point field goals per game (3.18, 13th), assist/turnover ratio (17th), field goals made (20th), and free-throw percentage (25th).
Saint Joseph's (17-0, 5-0 GNAC), ranked 11th nationally in both of the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and D3hoops.com polls, will play at Simmons College on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
