STANDISH, Maine – Weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior point guard Kelsey McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Player of the Week.
McNamara has also been listed on the New England Women's Basketball Association weekly honor roll for her play in a pair of games last week.
McNamara averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals overall in a 2-0 week. She had a huge game with 30 points, eight assists and three steals in a 79-69 victory over Emmanuel College to help the Monks cement their place atop the conference and extend their regular season winning streak vs. GNAC opponents to 28 games. She also added 17 points and seven assists in a 76-54 win over UMaine-Fort Kent on Sunday.
Through 23 games this season, McNamara is averaging 21.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.9 steals while shooting 45.1% (161-357) from the floor, 36.1% (66-183) from beyond the arc, and 87.3% (103-118) from the free throw line. She currently leads the conference in three pointers made (66), free throw percentage and assist/turnover ratio (2.7) and ranks third in points (491) and fourth in scoring average and free throws made.
As of February 10th, McNamara ranks fourth in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball in assists (163), fifth in assists average, eight in points, and ninth in scoring average.
The Monks' all-time leader in points (1,922) and three-pointers made (300), McNamara leads all active NCAA DIII players in three-point field goals and ranks second among current hoopsters in assists (584), third in points, and fifth in three-pointers per game and assists average (5.26).
For McNamara, the GNAC weekly honor is the 11th of her career and the MWBCA accolade is her 17th. She has also been listed on the NEWBA honor roll nine times. The trio of awards brings her career total to 85 honors earned.
Saint Joseph's (23-0, 10-0 GNAC) will play at Norwich on Thursday at 5:00 PM.
