Monks Clinch Top Seed in GNAC Tournament for Fourth Consecutive Season

2019 GNAC Tournament
tips off Tuesday evening

WINTHROP, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College of Maine rounded out the 2018-19 GNAC regular season with an unblemished 12-0 mark following its 90-48 victory over Lasell College on Saturday afternoon, marking the second straight season the Monks have gone unbeaten in league play. SJC will again be the top seed in next week's GNAC Women's Basketball Tournament, hosting eighth-seeded Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday, February 19.

Emmanuel College has solidified the No. 2 seed and will match up with seventh-seeded Colby-Sawyer College, which qualifies for the league tournament in its first year as a GNAC member. That quarterfinal will tip off at 5:30 PM in Boston.

The other quarterfinal matchups will feature third-seeded Albertus Magnus College hosting sixth-seeded Regis College and fifth-seeded Anna Maria College traveling to fourth-seeded Suffolk University. Albertus captured the No. 3 seed over Suffolk with a crucial 68-62 home victory on Saturday. 

There is no reseeding in the GNAC Tournament, with the semifinal contests scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21 and the league championship game slated for Saturday, Feb. 23. The conference champion will receive the GNAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
