STANDISH, Maine – Weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Jayne Howe (Pembroke, Mass.) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBWCA) Rookie of the Week.
Howe averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 68.8% (11-16) from the floor and 75% (3-4) from three-point range in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The freshman guard scored 16 points off a 7-for-10 shooting effort in a win over UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday.
Through six games this season Howe is averaging 6.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest and is shooting 43.9% (18-41) from the floor.
Howe is the first Saint Joseph's women's basketball player to garner GNAC Rookie of the Week honors since Kelsi McNamara '19 earned the award on February 17th, 2016.
Saint Joseph's (4-2) will play at Colby College on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
