STANDISH, ME - Salve Regina University (3-5)
toppled Saint Joseph's (4-5, 1-2 GNAC), 22-12, in non-conference
women's lacrosse action at Westerlea Way Field on Thursday
afternoon. Lauren Hagerman '10
(Scarborough, ME) netted five goals, three assists and four draw
controls in the loss.
The Seahawks were lead offensively by Brittany Marino '09 (Mt.
Sinai, NY), who tallied five goals and two assists, and Nicole
Fecteau '09 (Wilbraham, MA), who also produced five scores in the
win.
The visitors led 3-0 when Marino netted her first goal, off a free
position shot, at the 27:07 mark. After Lizzie
Farley ,11 (Scarborough, ME) found the back of the
net two minutes later, the Seahawks proceeded to outscore the Lady
Monks 7-3 for the remainder of the half and took a 10-4 lead into
intermission.
Salve Regina upped their advantage to 14-4 with four tallies in the
first five minutes of the second stanza. Alyssa
Marchant '11 (Wakefield, MA) scored the first SJC
goal of the half, a man-up marker, to make the score 14-5,
Seahawks, with 24:19 to play.
Jaimee Brett '10 (Otisfield, ME)
and Hagerman scored goals 1:09 apart to cut the deficit to 15-7
with 19:25 on the game clock, but St. Joe's was unable to pull any
closer as the Seahawks rolled to a 22-12 win.
Marchant added four goals, an assist and three
groundballs and Farley scored twice in the loss.
SJC keep Taylor Allison '12
(Pawtucket, RI) made 13 stops in net.
For the Seahawks, Allie Cunningham '09 (Westfield, MA) chipped in
with four goals, Nicole Viola '11 (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) added
three goals and two helpers and goalkeeper Sarah Baker '10 (Summit,
NJ) stopped seven shots between the pipes.
Saint Joseph's will host GNAC foe Pine Manor College on Saturday in
a 1:00 PM game at Westerlea Way Field. Salve Regina will play at
Western New England College in a 4:00 PM TCCC game on Tuesday at
4:00 PM.
