STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament schedule has been announced and Saint Joseph's College (10-3-1, 7-1 GNAC) has earned the #2 seed.
The Monks, a third-year varsity program, will host a playoff game for the first time when they face off against #3 Norwich University (7-6, 7-1 GNAC) on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Westerlea Way Field.
Top-seeded Emerson College (7-5, 7-1 GNAC) will host #4 Mount Ida College (8-5, 4-4 GNAC) in the other semifinal contest on Wednesday.
Since Emerson, St. Joe's and Norwich all completed the GNAC docket with a 7-1 record, conference tie-breaker rules came into play. Emerson gained the top seed with a coin toss and the head-to-head result decided the second and third seeds. As a result of defeating the Cadets earlier this season the Monks were awarded the #2 seed in the tourney.
Fourth place was determined by a coin toss as well, as Mount Ida, Lasell and Simmons all capped the conference schedule with a 4-4 record. The Mustangs won the toss and captured the final spot in the single-elimination tournament.
The GNAC tournament will be a four-team tournament bracket with the semi-finals beginning Wednesday April 21st with the #1 and #2 seeds serving as hosts. The Championship game will be Saturday, April 24th at the highest remaining seed.
