2011 Women's Lacrosse Captains Announced

STANDISH, ME – Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Anna Gordon has announced her team captains for the 2011 campaign.

Alyssa Marchant '11 (Wakefield, MA), Megan Cutter '12 (Westbrook, ME) and Taylor Allison '12 (Pawtucket, RI) will serve as team leaders this coming season.

Marchant, a three-year captain, enjoyed another outstanding season as a junior in 2010. She led the Monks with 61 goals and 71 ground balls – both team single-season records – and ranked second on the squad in draw controls (26). She became the first player in team history to reach the 100-goal plateau with a marker against Thomas College on March 18th and enters her senior season 24 points shy of the 200-point mark.

Cutter tallied nine goals, five assists and 14 total points with 30 ground balls and five draw controls as one of the Monks' top midfielders last spring. In two seasons, Cutter has recorded 14 goals and 20 total points.

Allison has started – and finished – all 29 games in goal for Saint Joseph's over the past two seasons and owns essentially every program single-season and career goalkeeping record. Her play was pivotal for St. Joe's in 2010, when the Royal Blue posted a 10-4-1 record and stood as the nation's only undefeated team in mid-April. Allison posted an 11.08 goals against average with a .448 save percentage in 926 minutes between the pipes as a sophomore.

Saint Joseph's will kick off the 2011 season with a game at Maine-Farmington on March 22nd at 4:30 PM.
