BOSTON, MA - Emerson College rallied from a 3-2 deficit by scoring the final three goals of the first half and went on to defeat Saint Joseph's College 10-6 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action at Emerson's Rotch Field. 

With 6:23 remaining in the first half, the Lions got an unassisted goal by Katie Dodge '11 (West Newbury, Mass.) to tie the game.  Emerson had fallen behind when Megan Cutter '12 (Westbrook, Maine) and Alyssa Marchant '11 (Wakefield, Mass.) had scored power play goals with Emerson's Mary Stufano '14 (Sanibel, Fla.) in the box for a dangerous follow through.

Chelsea Phillips '14 (Waterford, Conn.) then deposited three balls into the back of the Monks' net at 4:26 unassisted, and at 3:07 and 0:24 on free position attempts to give the Lions a 6-3 halftime advantage.

Phillips first goal of the day 14 seconds into the contest off the opening draw was answered by Cassie Diplock '14 (Augusta, Maine) just over six minutes later.  Phillips then assisted Alex Corrado '14 (Sammamish, Wash.) to give Emerson a 2-1 lead.

Dodge opened the second half with a free position goal that was answered by Amelia Santos '12 (Beverly, Mass.) less than a minute and a half later.  Dodge's third marker of the game came on another free position shot a mere 16 seconds later for an 8-4 Lion advantage.

The teams remained scoreless for over 11 minutes until Diplock and then Erika Waterhouse '13 (South Portland, Maine) scored unassisted tallies to bring the Monks with a pair with 9:41 left.

Stufano and Phillips stuffed the Monk rally with unassisted goals for the final tally.

Emerson's Emily Saeger '13 (Centrer Valley, Pa., above left) had a very strong game in the Lion net with 10 saves.  Taylor Allison '12 (Pawtucket, R.I.) made five stops for St. Joe's.

The game was closely contested throughout as St. Joseph's had minor advantages in shots (25-23) and ground balls (14-12).  The Lions had a significant advantage taking 10 of the 14 draw controls, but also had 21 turnovers to the Monks' 16.

Emerson (4-8, 4-2 GNAC) is off until Wednesday when the Lions host Simmons College at 6:00pm.  Saint Joseph's (4-6, 1-5 GNAC) will host St. Joseph (Conn.) College that same evening at 7:30 at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
