Adame & Nason Honored by Conference

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has released its first weekly honors of the spring season and two Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse players have received awards.

Junior midfielder Anneka Adame (San Diego, Calif.) has been chosen as the GNAC Player of the Week and junior netminder Haley Nason (Saco, Maine) has earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Adame registered three goals and an assist with 14 draw controls and seven ground balls in a season-opening 17-6 victory over Thomas College at Deering Memorial Stadium last Tuesday. With her first draw control of the game, Adame surpassed Lauren Hagerman '10 to become the Monks' all-time leader in the statistical category.

Nason was terrific in the triumph over Thomas last week, as the junior keeper equaled the Monks' single-game saves record with 18 stops in the dominant victory. Nason logged all 60 minutes between the pipes and surrendered only six goals on the afternoon.

The weekly conference honor is a first for both players. Nason is just the second SJC women's lacrosse keeper to claim weekly accolades with the other being current teammate Taylor Allison (Pawtucket, R.I.), who earned a pair of GNAC goalkeeper awards during the 2010 campaign. Adame, a 2012 Second Team All-GNAC selection, is the fourth Saint Joseph's player to garner top weekly honors. She joins Alyssa Marchant '11, Lauren Hagerman '10 and current teammate Cassie Diplock (Augusta, Maine) on the Monks' short list of weekly honorees.

Saint Joseph's (2-0) returns to action on Sunday when the Monks play at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. The game, played during the Monks' first-ever spring trip, is slated to begin at 3:00 PM. Husson hosts Norwich University at 5:00 PM on Thursday night.
