2013 Women's Lacrosse Tournament Bracket Released

BOSTON, MA - The 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament bracket has been released.

Saint Joseph's College (10-6, 6-3 GNAC) has claimed the #4 seed in the tourney and will host #5 Emmanuel College (9-4, 5-4 GNAC) in a quarterfinal contest at Scarborough High School on Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM.

The Monks defeated the Saints by a 15-14 score in Boston on April 10th. Juniors Krystal Walsh (Springvale, Maine) and Cassie Diplock (Augusta, Maine) netted four goals apiece and junior keeper Haley Nason (Saco, Maine) made 14 saves in the victory over Emmanuel.

The Monks are in search of the program's first-ever postseason victory in what will be the team's second home playoff contest in six seasons as a varsity sport at Saint Joseph's. The Royal Blue earned the #2 seed in the 2010 GNAC Tournament and suffered a 12-10 loss to Norwich University in a quarterfinal contest that spring.

Finishing with a perfect 9-0 GNAC record, Lasell College earns the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Mount Ida College (2-7) in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 24.

Emerson College earned the No. 2 seed with a head-to-head tie-breaker over Simmons College as both finished with 7-2 conference records and will host No. 7 Norwich University (4-5) while Simmons will host No. 6 Rivier University (4-5) in two other Quarterfinals matches on Wednesday, April 24.

The winner of the 2013 GNAC Women's Lacrosse tournament will earn an automatic qualifying bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse championship tournament.
