Caiazzo Named GNAC Player & Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman attack Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player and Rookie of the Week.

Caiazzo totaled 15 points with 11 goals and four assists in a 2-0 conference week for the Monks. The freshman attack netted a career-high eight goals in an 18-7 victory over Mount Ida College on Wednesday and contributed three goals and three assists in a one-sided win over Albertus Magnus College on Saturday. The weekly player honor is the first of her career and the rookie accolade is her fourth of the season.

Through 10 games for the 9-1 Monks, Caiazzo has tallied 38 goals and nine assists for 47 total points with 38 ground balls, 16 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. She is currently tied for the conference-lead in goals and ranks second in the league in points.

Saint Joseph's hosts GNAC-rival Rivier University at 7:30 PM on Wednesday at Deering Memorial Stadium.
