Caiazzo Claims Fifth GNAC Rookie of the Week Honor

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman attack Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this spring.

Caiazzo scored 13 goals with three assists in a 4-0 week for Saint Joseph's, with five goals in an 11-8 triumph over previously unbeaten Johnson & Wales University on Saturday and four markers versus UMass.-Dartmouth on Sunday. The freshman attack also tallied three goals and a pair of helpers in a 21-7 victory over Rivier University on Wednesday. Her play helped the Monks extend their program-record win streak to 12 games and her fourth goal against the Corsairs on Sunday was her 50th of the year, making her just the fourth player in program history to reach the half century mark in a season.

Through 13 games for the 12-1 Monks, Caiazzo has tallied 50 goals with 12 assists, 45 ground balls, 20 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. She currently leads the conference in goals and ranks second in the GNAC in points, shots (91) and shots on goal (76).

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Wednesday night when the team hosts Regis College in a 7:00 PM start at Deering Memorial Stadium.
