ECAC Hat Trick for Caiazzo

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman attack Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Week for the third time this spring.

Caiazzo, who also collected her sixth GNAC Rookie of the Week honor on Monday, helped lead the Monks to a pair of victories with six goals and five assists to go with five ground balls and seven draw controls week. The first-year standout netted three goals in an 8-6 win over Regis College on Wednesday and capped the reporting period with three goals and a career-best five assists in a 17-15 overtime victory over Simmons College on Saturday.

Through 16 games for the 15-1 Monks (9-0 GNAC), Caiazzo has registered 59 goals and 18 assists for 77 total points with 57 ground balls, 31 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers. She leads the team in goals, points, shots (110), shots on goal (95) and free-position goals (10).

In the midst of one of the finest seasons in program history, Caiazzo already ranks highly in the Monks' single-season record book, as the freshman is currently third in goals, points and free-position goals.

As of April 22nd, Caiazzo ranks second in the GNAC in goals and shots on goal, third in points, fifth in free-position goals, sixth in ground balls and ninth in assists.

The top seed in the 2015 GNAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament, Saint Joseph's continues postseason play with a home semifinal game versus #4 Emmanuel College on Friday. The contest, a rematch of the 2014 GNAC Championship, will be played at Scarborough High School and begins at 8:00 PM.

The Monks defeated #8 Rivier University, 21-5, in a GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal on Wednesday to advance to the semifinal round for the third-consecutive season.
