STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior midfielder Kat Gadbois (Scarborough, Maine) has been selected as the Eastern College Athletics Conference (ECAC) DIII New England Offensive Player of the Week.
Gadbois, who earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week honors on Monday, recorded six goals, five assists, 11 ground balls, five draw controls, and eight caused turnovers in a pair of wins last week for the Monks. Gadbois produced one of the biggest games of her career with six goals, six ground balls, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers in an important conference victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday and became the Monks' career leader in ground balls and caused turnovers in an 8-1 win over Regis on Wednesday.
Through eight games this spring, Gadbois has recorded 17 goals, 18 assists, 36 ground balls, 19 draw controls, and 20 caused turnovers. She currently leads the GNAC in assists and caused turnovers and ranks second in points (35) and ground balls.
In 65 career contests, Gadbois has scored 108 goals with 57 assists, 242 ground balls, 100 craw controls, and 108 caused turnovers. Currently, she ranks fourth among all active NCAA DIII players in ground balls and seventh in caused turnovers per game (1.76). This season, Gadbois ranks 15th in NCAA DIII in caused turnovers per game (3.33) and 20th in assists per game (2.67).
Gadbois is the fourth player in Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse history to claim an ECAC weekly honor. She joins Alyssa Marchant '11, Lauren Hagerman '10, and current teammate Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) on the short list.
On Saturday, Saint Joseph's (6-2, 1-0 GNAC) will travel to New Haven to face Albertus Magnus College in a GNAC contest starting at 12:00 PM.
