WINTHROP, Mass. – Defending league champion Saint Joseph's College of Maine has earned the top seed in next week's GNAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament after posting a spotless 9-0 record in conference play for the second straight season. The Monks will open up quarterfinal play on Tuesday against eighth-seeded Norwich University (8:00 PM) at Deering Stadium in Portland.
Johnson & Wales locked down the No. 2 seed with an 8-1 GNAC mark and will prepare to welcome seventh-seeded Rivier University at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening.
Third-seeded Emmanuel College will host sixth-seeded Mount Ida College at 8:15 PM, while fourth-seeded Lasell College hosts fifth-seeded Simmons College at 3:00 PM.
The Norwich-Saint Joseph's winner will take on the Simmons/Lasell winner in Thursday's quarterfinals, with the Mount Ida-Emmanuel winner drawing the Rivier-JWU winner.
The GNAC Championship contest is slated for Saturday, May 7 at the highest remaining seed. The GNAC Champion earns an automatic qualifier into the 2016 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which begins on Saturday, May 14th.
