STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse postseason accolades have been released and four Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.
Senior defender Brittney Arsenault (Westbrook, Maine), senior midfielder Kayla Kelly (York, Maine), and junior attack Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) have claimed Second Team All-GNAC honors and senior attack Kara Kelly (York, Maine) is listed on the Third Team.
Arsenault collects Second-Team honors for the second-consecutive season after scoring 10 goals with 25 ground balls, 11 draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers in 16 games – all starts – during her senior campaign. She finished the 2019 season tied for fourth on the team with 12 caused turnovers.
The team captain closed out her collegiate career having tallied 30 goals, 10 assists, 111 ground balls, 65 draw controls, and 45 caused turnovers in 68 contests (67 starts) over four seasons. She leaves the program ranked among the Monks' all-time leaders in games (4th) and draw controls (8th).
Kayla Kelly lands on the Second Team for the second-consecutive season after netting 37 goals with four assists, 54 ground balls, 71 draw controls, and 21 caused turnovers while starting all 17 of the Monks' contests this spring. She ranked second in the conference in free-position goals (17), sixth in draw controls, and seventh in ground balls and ranked as the team leader in goals during her senior campaign.
Kelly capped her four-year career with 111 goals, 35 assists, 182 ground balls, 180 draw controls and 67 caused turnovers in 68 games (51 starts). She wraps up her college career ranked second in team history in free-position goals (38), fourth in draw controls, fifth in shots (281) and shots on goal (210), sixth goals, eighth in ground balls and caused turnovers, and ninth in points (146) and assists.
Beaulieu, a 2018 Third Team honoree, earns Second Team acclaim following a junior season during which she totaled 30 goals, 26 assists, 31 ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers while appearing in all 17 games. She led the team in assists and points (56) and ranked second on the squad in goals this spring.
In 50 career games (49 starts), Beaulieu has scored 69 goals with 53 assists for 122 total points with 79 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers, and 10 draw controls. She currently ranks sixth in team history in career assists and 12th in points.
Kara Kelly, a Second Team honoree last spring, claims Third Team honors following her senior season after scoring 21 goals with 10 assists for 31 total points with 31 ground balls, 13 draw controls, and 13 caused turnovers in 17 games, all starts, this season.
In 68 career contests (64 starts), Kelly tallied 89 goals, 44 assists, 114 ground balls, 30 draw controls, and 34 caused turnovers. She leaves the program ranked seventh in team history in assists, shots (227) and shots on goal (174), ninth in goals, and 10th in points (133).
Under the watch of seventh-year Head Coach Rupert Lewis, Saint Joseph's posted a 9-8 overall record with a 7-4 mark in conference play. The Monks earned the #6 seed and opened the GNAC Tournament with a quarterfinal at third-seeded Lasell College. St. Joe's suffered a 13-7 year-ending setback at the hands of the Lasers, a loss that signaled the end of collegiate lacrosse for the program's three seniors.
