BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (5-5-1, 2-1-1 GNAC) and Suffolk University (2-5-2, 1-1-2 GNAC) dueled to a 2-2 deadlock in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at Dilboy Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Facing a 2-0 deficit with the clock winding down in the second half, junior Hannah LeBlanc (Andover, Mass.) put the Monks on the board with a goal off a Kim Jordan (Bangor, Maine) pass in the 83rd minute. Jordan potted a marker of her own, off a Desiree Parent (Westborough, Mass.) feed with 3:57 left in regulation, a goal that would eventually force extra play.
Saint Joseph's owned a 7-4 advantage with a pair of corner kicks, both in the first OT frame, but could not punch home the winner as Suffolk senior netminder Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) made a pair of stops and five attempts sailed off target.
Suffolk freshman Jessica Harmon (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored both of the Rams' goals, as the rookie forward put the hosts on top with a 59th-minute tally and doubled the Rams' advantage with her second of the night just over 11 minutes later.
Saint Joseph's freshman keeper Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied a season-high 12 saves in the stalemate while Brouillette registered 11 stops for the hosts.
Overall, the Monks held a 36-19 advantage in shots while the Rams held the lead in shots on goal (15-13) and corner kicks (8-6) on the evening.
Both teams face conference opponents on Saturday when Saint Joseph's plays at University of Saint Joseph in a 1:00 PM start and Suffolk hosts Mount Ida College at 4:00 PM.
