(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team fell this afternoon at home to Saint Joseph's College (Me.) by a 1-0 final in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. It was the Raiders' sixth one goal decision this season, third straight, and their record now stands at 6-8-0 overall with a 1-7-0 mark in the GNAC. Saint Joseph's climbs to 8-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.
Rivier was heavily outshot throughout the conference contest as the Monks managed to unload 35 total shots in the game, 21 of which were placed on net where Rivier freshman goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) turned away 19 attempts, her career high for saves in a game. Saint Joseph's freshman net minder Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) stopped the only shot she faced for the team's third consecutive shutout.
The Monks finally capitalized on a scoring chance in the 64th minute as junior Hannah LeBlanc (Andover, Mass.) lifted a shot past the outstretched hands of Goodspeed for her sixth goal of the fall. Senior Danielle Daigle (Dayton, Maine) was credited with the assist as she made a solid pass to LeBlanc inside the 18'.
Both squads will be back in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will host Norwich University at 3:30pm while Saint Joseph's will travel to Providence for a 2:30 kick off with Johnson and Wales University.
