Wildcats Blank Monks, 2-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Johnson & Wales University (9-7-1, 5-3-1 GNAC) posted a 2-0 victory against Saint Joseph's College (8-7-1, 5-3-1 GNAC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales got on the board at the 13:49 mark of the first half when junior Elizabeth Marinaro (Palo Alto, Calif.) took a ball down the right side of the field and sent a crossing pass to Foster.  Foster then flicked in a header from five yards out and the 1-0 lead.  JWU dominated play in the first half with an 11-4 advantage in shots.

The Wildcats added an insurance goal in the 75th minute as sophomore Emily McClarnon (Wakefield, R.I.) sent a through ball to freshman Kyra Selner (Sterling, Va.).  Selner then deposited a shot into the lower right corner of the net to propel JWU to a 2-0 lead.  The Wildcats again controlled the action in the second half and held an 18-7 advantage in shots for the contest.

Rose notched the shutout in goal for Johnson & Wales with three saves in the victory.  Freshman Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied eight stops for Saint Joseph's.

Both teams return to action Wednesday when the Monks host Lasell College at 3:30 PM and Johnson & Wales hosts Mount Ida College at 5:30 PM.
