Peters, Pollini & Troup Collect All-GNAC Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer postseason awards have been released and three Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Senior midfielder Sam Peters (Gorham, Maine), junior defender Megen Pollini (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and freshman goalkeeper Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) have collected Third Team All-Conference accolades. The postseason award is a career-first for all three individuals.

Peters had her best season as a senior with three goals and two assists for a career-high eight points during the 2014 campaign. A two-year team captain, Peters was an outstanding leader for the Monks on and off the pitch and an instrumental player in the SJC midfield as a three-year starter.

Pollini, a three-year starter, has been a force on the Monks' backline during her career and earns well-deserved recognition after recording yet another solid season. A standout athlete who also plays outfield for the SJC softball program, Pollini is a strong-legged and gritty defender who played a significant role in the team's 1.52 goals against average, a mark that ranked fourth in the conference last fall.

Troup emerged as the Monks' starting keeper in mid-September and kicked off her collegiate career by logging nearly 340 minutes of shutout play. Listed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll three times as a freshman, Troup led the conference with an .848 save percentage and ranked second in the GNAC with a 0.89 goals against average. Overall, the rookie netminder went 8-7-1 with four shutouts with 12 goals allowed in 1,207 minutes between the pipes.

Under the watch of second-year Head Coach Jenelle Harris, Saint Joseph's College went 8-10-1 overall and 5-5-1 in GNAC play en route to earning the #7 seed in the conference tournament this fall. The Monks' campaign came to a close with a 2-0 loss at the hands of #2 Emmanuel College in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal round on Sunday, November 2nd.
