Eagles Clip Monks, 1-0

Eagles Clip Monks, 1-0

BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (1-0-1) tipped the Saint Joseph's College (1-2-0), 1-0, in the final game of the 11th Annual Husson Classic on Sunday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Michelle Cunha (Enfield, Conn.) made eight saves in the losing effort.

Freshman forward Alison Boulier (Bangor, Maine) scored what proved to be the game-winner at the 67:13 mark when she slipped a shot past Cunha from 15 yards out. Sophomore Myra Degree (Derby, Vt.) earned an assist on the play.

The Monks had plenty of scoring chances, but failed to capitalize in the setback. Freshman Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) registered two of the best opportunities, having a goal called back on an off sides infraction in the 15th minute and the first-year also ripped a shot off the crossbar in the 53rd minute.

Husson freshman keeper Kayla Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine) made three saves in the shutout performance.

The Monks are off until next Saturday when the Royal Blue begins conference play with a game at Simmons College. Kick-off is slated for 11:30 AM.
