BANGOR, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (1-1) rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Husson University (0-1), 4-3 in overtime, in Husson Classic Tournament action on Saturday evening. Junior midfielder Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) scored twice and netted the game-winning goal seven minutes into extra play.
THE LEAD
The outlook was bleak for Saint Joseph's, as Husson held a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime and extended the lead to 3-1 with a Leah Hibbard (Portsmouth, R.I.) goal just five minutes into the second stanza. But the young Monks continued to plug away and cut the Eagles' lead by one when freshman midfielder Hannah Butler (Melrose, Mass.) netted her first collegiate marker at the 59:20 mark. Nearly 20 minutes later, sophomore Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) tied the contest at three apiece with her second goal in as many games.
Saint Joseph's registered five shots in overtime, including the final strike off the foot of Comtois at the 97:11 mark. DaGraca possessed the ball just outside the 18 and dealt off to the junior captain, who made an overlapping run on the right, took a touch, and delivered a shot to the far post past Husson freshman keeper Angela Daigle (Turner, Maine), who got a piece of the ball before it found the back of the net.
THE KEEPERS
SJC junior goalie Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made six saves to pick up her first win of the season while Daigle tallied nine stops in her first collegiate contest.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- For Comtois, the brace (two-goal game) counts as the first of her NCAA career while the game-winner is her second over two-plus seasons
- DaGraca registered a goal and an assist with a game-high six shots
- Sophomores Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) and Emily Thornton (Westbrook, Maine) notched an assist apiece
LEADERS – HUSSON:
- Junior midfielder Mollie Roy (Hermon, Maine) scored a goal with two assists in the losing effort
- Hibbard recorded four shots with a goal
- Junior forward Lexi Crawford (North Bridgton, Maine) came off the bench and scored on her only shot of the evening

Saint Joseph's held advantages in shots (30-18), shots on goal (13-9), and corner kicks (7-6) in the victory.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 33-7 in the history of the series with Husson University, a team that defeated the Monks by a 1-0 score in Bangor last fall (9/6/15).
