Pilgrims Edge Monks with Late Tally, 2-1

Henniker, N.H. – New England College (5-2-0) slipped past Saint Joseph's College (3-4-1), 2-1, in a non-conference women's soccer contest on Sunday afternoon.

SCORING

NEC came up with the lone goal of the opening half as Jaycie Triandafilou one-timed in a free kick off the foot of teammate Jess Dowson in the 26th minute.

Saint Joseph's tied the game at 1-1 just five minutes into the second half as Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) notched her team-high seventh goal of the season off a free kick from Skye Murray (Dayton, Maine). 

The score remained tied through much of the second half before Emily LePage tallied the eventual game-winner off a nice feed through the middle by Emily Gubbins.

THE KEEPERS

Picking up the shutout win in goal for NEC was Kayla Pugliese who finished the game with six saves.

In goal for Saint Joseph's was Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.), who also recorded six saves.

Saint Joseph's plays at Southern Maine on Wednesday at 4:00 PM while New England College plays at Maine Maritime on Saturday.
