Monks Roll Past AMCATS, 9-0

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (7-1, 5-1 GNAC) toppled Anna Maria College (0-11, 0-7 GNAC), 9-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Friday night.

Seven different players scored for the Monks with senior Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) leading the offensive attack with three goals in the lopsided victory. Senior Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) added a goal and three assists on the evening.

Sophomore Kayla Gooch (Dracut, Mass.), senior Emily Thornton (Westbrook, Maine), senior Angela Valenti (Litchfield, N.H.), sophomore Madeline Wood (Madison, Maine), and sophomore Brenna Smith (Maynard, Mass.) also scored in the SJC victory.

The Monks employed a pair of keepers, as freshman Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) got the start and played 17 minutes before giving way to junior Cori Balam (Lyndeborough, N.H.), who picked up the victory. Neither keeper faced a shot in the triumph.

Anna Maria freshman goalkeeper Rachel Matloff (Grafton, Mass.) made 16 saves in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 PM home game versus reigning GNAC Champion Lasell College.
