EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore McKenzie Murphy (Kennebunk, Maine) scored with 53 seconds remaining in regulation to propel Saint Joseph's College (8-2-0, 6-2-0 GNAC) past Suffolk University (2-8-1, 2-6-1 GNAC), 2-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest on Saturday afternoon.

THE LEAD

Senior Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) tallied a goal and an assist and freshman goalkeeper Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) made eight saves to help the Monks remain near the top of the GNAC standings.

THE REST OF THE STORY

The Monks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, when sophomore Brenna Smith (Maynard, Mass.) threaded a perfect pass through two Suffolk defenders to DaGraca, who finished for her 10th goal of the season.

The SJC advantage was negated seven minutes later when sophomore Caleigh O'Brien (Wilbraham, Mass.) netted an unassisted tally, knotting the game at 1-1.

Freshman Maddi Cormier (Bangor, Maine) nearly put the Monks on top when she clanged a shot off the post at the 77:47 mark, but Murphy came through with her second game-winner of the season less than 12 minutes later.

THE KEEPERS

Grogan made a career-high eight saves for the Monks while Suffolk junior goalie Allison Rodrigues (North Andover, Mass.) turned away six shots in the losing effort.

TEAM STATS

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (20-14) while Suffolk posted advantages in shots on goal (9-8) and corner kicks (1-0) on the afternoon.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 10-1-2 all-time versus Suffolk University and extends an undefeated streak against the Rams to nine games.
