STANDISH, Maine – The 2018-19 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards have been announced and the Saint Joseph's College women's soccer team is on the list.
In order to receive the national honor teams must record a collective grade point average of 3.0 or higher. For the 2018-19 academic year, a total of 990 teams (646 women, 344 men) met the criteria. With a 3.39 team GPA, Saint Joseph's is one of seven Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) programs to have earned the academic award.
The other GNAC women's soccer programs to claim United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards are Albertus Magnus, Emmanuel, Johnson & Wales, Regis, Simmons and Suffolk.
A total of 13 SJC women's soccer players garnered GNAC All-Academic accolades following the completion of the 2019 spring semester. Jade Jordan (Baldwin, Maine), Hailey Tarr (Eliot, Maine), Cori Balam (Lyndeborough, N.H.), McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine), Sophie Silva (Portland, Maine), Brenna Smith (Maynard, Mass.), Madeline Wood (Madison, Maine), Cody Veilleux (Waterville, Maine), Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine), Michaela McDonald (New Gloucester, Maine), Emily Thornton (Westbrook, Maine), Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.), and Skye Murray (Dayton, Maine) were recognized by the conference after notching a 3.25 GPA or higher through the spring term.
Saint Joseph's (6-2-1, 3-1-0 GNAC) plays at Thomas College tonight in a non-conference tilt slated to start at 7:00 PM.
