STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (9-2-2, 5-1-1 GNAC) and University of Saint Joseph (10-2-1, 5-2-1 GNAC) dueled to a 0-0 tie in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.
As the score indicates, the game proved to be incredibly even with neither team mounting a serious scoring threat and both sides posting similar statistics. The Monks tallied 14 shots with five on goal and four corner kicks while the Blue Jays recorded 16 shots with six on goal and five corner kicks.
In goal, SJC sophomore Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) steered away six shots while USJ netminder Lindsey Montminy notched five saves in the stalemate.
For the Monks, the deadlock brings an end to the team's three-game winning streak versus the Blue Jays but extends the hosts' undefeated string against USJ to six contests. Saint Joseph's is now 8-3-4 all-time versus University of Saint Joseph.
Today's scoreless tie is the first in the 15-game history of the series between SJC and USJ and the first for the Monks since they played to a 0-0 score with Albertus Magnus College on September 10th, 2016.
Saint Joseph's returns to the pitch on Wednesday with a conference game at Colby-Sawyer College. Opening kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
